Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is not a compliance page for us, it is a product decision. A study tool can be built to help someone learn a subject, or it can be built to help someone get past an assessment without learning the subject. Those two products look different, and they are monetized differently.

AceQuiz is the first kind. The core of the product is assessment you give yourself: questions generated from your own materials, a timed mock exam, and an honest read on which concepts are not solid yet. That only has value if the result is true, so the incentive to make the practice easy, or to hand over answers you have not earned, works against the thing we are selling.

We also accept the obvious. Any tool that explains an answer can be misused by someone who wanted only the answer. We are not going to claim we have engineered that possibility out of existence. What we can do is state clearly what the product is for, refuse to build the features that exist only for misuse, and give instructors a real route to us. That is what the rest of this page does.

Four things, all of which have a student doing the work rather than watching it be done:

Commitments, not aspirations. If any of these stops being true, this page changes first.

Using AceQuiz does not put you above your institution’s rules, and where the two differ, your institution’s rules win. Do not use AceQuiz, or any tool, in these ways:

• During a closed-book or proctored assessment, or during any assessment where outside resources are not permitted.
• To upload your instructor’s exams, test banks, answer keys or paywalled course materials. Beyond our rules, this is usually copyright infringement and is treated as misconduct by most institutions.
• To submit generated text as your own work where that is not allowed. An explanation is something to learn from, not something to hand in.
• To share graded work in progress with other students in a way your course prohibits.

One practical test, borrowed from university guidance on AI tools and worth more than any policy paragraph: ask whether you are using the tool to learn the material faster, or to avoid learning it. You already know which one you are doing.

If you are not sure whether AceQuiz is permitted in a particular course, ask the person who grades you. Course policies on AI vary widely, sometimes between two modules of the same degree.

Being specific about this matters more than a reassuring sentence, so here is the actual split.

Private by default

Everything you upload, including slides, PDFs, recordings and photos of your notes, stays in your account. It is not published, not searchable by other users, and not used to train public AI models. Study sessions, quiz results and review history are yours.

Public only when you choose it

Quizzes, flashcard decks and mock tests generate share links when you ask for one. Anyone with the link can open that item, so do not publish anything containing material your instructor has restricted.

Our public question library

We publish a library of general study questions with worked explanations at /answers. It exists so people searching for a concept can find a real explanation of it. It is not a repository of any one course’s assignments, and no instructor material belongs in it. If something of yours appears there, section 6 is how you get it taken down.

You do not need a formal legal notice to reach a person here. Email support@acequiz.ai from your institutional address with a link to the page and a sentence about what the material is. Useful things to include: the course or module, whether you authored the material, and whether it relates to an active assessment.

What we will do:

• Review every report that comes from an instructor or an academic integrity office.
• Remove content that breaks this policy, infringes your copyright, or reproduces assessment material.
• Reply to you about the outcome, rather than closing the report silently.
• Answer procurement and policy questions in writing if your institution needs a statement on file.

What we will not do:

• Sell you a detection product, or support an allegation against a named student with evidence we do not have.
• Claim an accuracy figure for identifying misconduct that no current technology supports.

If you want to use AceQuiz with a class, that is a normal and welcome use. Building practice sets from your own slides, sharing a revision quiz, or setting an optional timed mock before a midterm are all exactly what the tool is for.

An integrity page that pretends the output is always correct is not an integrity page. AI-generated questions and explanations can be wrong, can miss the emphasis your instructor cares about, and can be confidently wrong in ways that read fluently.

• Check generated material against your source. The point of working from your own uploads is that the source is right there.
• Treat a practice score as a signal, not a verdict. A mock exam tells you where your weak concepts are. It does not know your professor.
• Report bad output. Wrong answers in a study tool are a defect, and we want to hear about them.
